Week: 51
Songs to Remember: Peanuts Song - Ahn Yong Jun
I'm currently standing in line right now, and it's pretty, fucking, long. Ah yes, just the same I remembered.
Thank the fucking lord that I look at Facebook before I went here. This morning, this senior posted a status about registration, and a person commented about about how you need your emergency card (form with phone numbers and people in case an emergency happens and you need a guardian to pick you up). On the original letter that was sent to us, it didn't say that the card was required. Well, apparently it is, so, good thing I looked at Facebook posts, heh.
A person here's checking people's papers, so that people don't waste their time and wait until they get all the way to the front, only to find out they don't have the right forms. I'm now waiting in the sun, so I'll be expecting a neck tan. I'll update with some more shit later.
So I'm nearing the entrance, there was a checkpoint so that people without the emergency card couldn't get past. Lots of familiar faces. Lots and lots.
Holy, fucking, shit. I was finished with registration, I was standing in front of the school, minding my own business on my phone, when I hear a thud or something behind me. I turn around, there's this dude who just kinda fell off his bike or something. And me, trying to be the kind person I am, I was like "Hey yo, you alright?". I was being the one who was proactive, helping a guy out. I learned that he was a special-ed student by the way he talked.
I was like "Be careful next time alright" just as my mom was driving up to pick me up. I entered the car and on drive to the library (it was like, 1:30 PM) by now, my mom gave me a fucking lecture. She gave me a lecture about how I should not help people because they might sue us. I was fucking angry as fuck, like, "This is what I get for helping people". I don't even know what to do anymore.
Anyways, it's 9:48 right now, I've calmed down, tired, but calm, so I'll just tell how it all went. So during registration, I did see a lot of familiar faces. I saw a couple of my buddies, some characters from the old series, El, Ez, Ek, Ag, Dn, and even Em, yes, Em. What are the chances right (how many Juniors are there?)?
The line was long. Not THAT long now that I look at it, but, fairly long. I waited about 30 minutes or so outside. So as I was saying, I saw all those people (some I saw inside, some outside after I finished registering), I saw El and Em in line. I recognized her immediately (only because of her blonde-dyed hair, my recognition skills, and we were literally like 2 feet from each other while in the zig-zag part of the line going into the cafeteria. We hugged, she was like "Omg" and I was like "Yo" and we talked a bit 'bout how she was gonna be here for like, 2-3 weeks, still awesome.
The line moved along, got another part of my papers highlighted, got in, handed over one form, proceeded to see a few tables in front. I stopped in front of one, thinking that it was where I get my locker assignment sheet, when actually it was where they sold ASB memberships (ASB stands for Adult Student Body btw). It's basically, you pay 30 bucks (I thought it was 50, but was actually only 30 which was a STEAL), then you get discounts for products and events throughout the school, such as, but not limited to, prom, the winter ball, sadie's, and sporting events. For sporting events you get in for free. For prom, you get like $10 off, which is already 1/3 of the price you already payed for the membership. So of course I was getting it this year.
They then asked me what size shirt I wore, I said small (hesitating a bit, but small was what I went with) because when considering American size shirts, I'm not exactly a medium, just a bit smaller. And then they proceeded to give me a size small yellow shirt that says "Blank army" on it (Blank being the school mascot) and a planner book. Which I won't really use because I have a digital one on my phone. But it's good to have.
After that, I headed on over to the line where you turn in the rest of your papers, and apparently that was where you get the locker assignment sheets. And so it was pretty straightforward after that, I went ahead and waited in line, they asked me for my last name, then my first name, got my ticket, then waited in another line, for my picture. There were like 7 stations for photos, the station I was sent to stand in line for, I don't know what, but the line did not move for like 10 minutes. I noticed every other line was going by real quick, ours wasn't at all.
I saw Ek and Ag in a couple lines next to mine, I was like "Ay" and they were like "Ay". You know, Ag from last week's tutoring session? Yeah. Finally, the photographer got back or whatever, it came to my turn, I "yolo'd" it, got my picture taken, waited for my ID card to come out of the machine aaaand, well, I initially said "What the hell, I look fat". Even though I do weigh around 110 pounds. I guess it was just, at first, but, now that I look at it, I'm like "Huh, I actually don't look half bad". It's probably my favorite one so far.
I head out, walked around for a bit, then called my mom to pick me up. I saw Ez and Dn coming out of the registration place. And then, proceed to the event where the kid falls off his bike and my mom lectures me, which I discussed above. So then I was at the library, I was fucking angry, I was like "I'ma just get this tutoring session over with and go home". They were having their awards ceremony when I got there, I saw Jk (the initials for his name are actually Jk) there, but no sign of Ek or Ag. They were on their way. I was on my phone, also listening to the awards thing being announced (there was barely any room to get in or any seats at all, so I stood outside the auditorium with Jk and his buddies).
I'm on my phone, I turn around, Ek and Ag's there, talking with Jk and the rest of the group from last time. Ek, Ag, Jk, Dv's tutee, and I proceed to go over and play checkers in the kiddie section of the library. I played Ag while Ek played Jk or whatever. We played a couple games, getting used to each other I guess in a sort of, checkers way, heh. It was a good 20 minutes or so. We went back to the lobby outside the auditorium, saw that they were still doing awards, went back to play some more checkers, this time, Dv comes, as well as a couple of my other buddies. I'll just call 'em Bh and Bh's brother.
Fun games, fun games, we went back and finally, they were serving pizza (the tutoring event). Well, pizza, and chowmein, and cookies, cake, chips, and lots of drinks. I proceeded to help myself to a few cookies, a slice of watermelon, and a bag of Doritos Cool Ranch (gotta get that Cool Ranch). We ate in the main library lobby, Jk met up with us once more, I took an Instagram picture of my food, only to have it gain some likes, as well as a like from Slaydra. You know, AznEyesWhiteDragon on YouTube. Pretty fucking crazy, I think it was the Doritos. Dv was also with us as well, and Ek, and Ag, and Dv's tutee.
I was pretty much full after 3 cookies. They held a loooot of sugar in them. A lot. Ag mentions this badminton place and how if we're all gonna go there that she'll bring her extra rackets for us to borrow. Jk was going, and Ek asked me if I were going as well. I was like "Hmmm, considering the situation, how it was after registering, a Friday, a week before school starts, eh, why the fuck not, go hard or go home" and decided I'd go. Why not right?
We head back to the lobby outside the auditorium, got our community service papers (which were already signed) at a table there. I also met up Ai (or was it Ad? Well, you know who) and Zi. Apparently we won't be having the same classes/periods as one another, but hey, I'm still hoping that these classes aren't finalized, and I'm hoping I'll get in one class with her, Chinese 2 or Honors Pre-Cal. Still hoping. Anyways, Ai gave me his Snapchat, Ag apparently has AP Bio in third period, which I also have third period, so, it's gonna be good if we do have it together.
So after everybody got their papers back, we each headed home to bring a change of clothes, water, etc, to go to this badminton place. I had no idea what it was gonna be like. Ek said to bring a set of clothes to "sweat in". I was like "Uhhh, who does that? I'm not gonna need another set of clothes to sweat in". Lord behold, thank goodness I brought an extra shirt. I also brought a bottle of water as well, definitely should've brang more.
My mom drives me there, apparently it was very, very close to my house. Well, it was only 1.9 miles away from the library. I could've actually walked there, but still. I had on my middle school P.E shirt and shorts, my bag with my extra shirt, water bottle, ID, cash, and my phone (which was on the verge of dying. I had it on battery saver with 27% left). Went in, saw Ek and somebody I know, we'll call him Jv (he was in my English class once in 7th or 8th grade, also in one of my P.E classes during freshman year I think). He was pretty good at Badminton. I knew him, we didn't talk all that much, but we knew each other, because as soon as I walked in, he was like "Hey, it's Drew!".
I signed in, presented my school ID, payed the admission fee, and got to our court, which was court 19. There weren't that many other people there, well, until later. Soo, Ag came, and soon Jk came, and we began playing. I hadn't played Badminton in a year. The last time I played was in the beginning of Sophomore year. That was it.
And yes, I was sucking at it, heh. But then when I actually hit the shuttlecock, I recognized the vibrations from the racket. I was like "Ooooohhhh I remember now, I just gotta get the feeling of it". Well, I missed a few more shots, but hit some more shots. It was first a 2v3, with me, Jk, and Jv on one side, Ek and Ag on the other. I guess it was just a warmup. Then, we played 2 on 2 matches, switching between ourselves while one takes a break.
And holy fuck, did I take breaks. I was sweating like a mother fucker there, not even kidding. Good thing I brought that extra shirt (mine was getting soaked), because I was using it to wipe the sweat off my head. I was sitting down but it got hotter near the floor, I was like "Dear god, why is it so hot" and Ek was like "Oh yeah, there's no air conditioning in here". At that instant, I just wished for a fire hydrant to appear in front of me and just blast me with it's cooling waters.
It was fun, I played everybody on my team. The place filled up pretty quick, soon, every court had people playing, and it wasn't even just professionals or whatever. There was like a 40-year old couple, playing 1 on 1. It was great, there was people of all ages, just, enjoying fucking Badminton, heh. At around 7:40 PM, I called it quits and headed home. I was literally just sweating, even when I wasn't even playing. It was fun though, I just felt like I needed a real good shower and dinner before it got too late.
Got home, blasted the showers on, ate dinner at 8:00 PM, got on my PC, fucked around a bit, played a couple games of League with buddy, and now it's 12:26 PM, because I just typed for like an hour straight for the rest of this post.
So, all in all, today was fucking better than expected. I wished I could add more details, but I feel as though that shit ain't necessary, and it would take about another hour, heh. And I'm tired. I had fun just going along, playing checkers at the library, had fun trying something new for a change instead of just heading home to, well, do whatever I'm doing right now. I would never have had such a unique experience, if it weren't for me going with the flow. See ya.
