Week: 14
Songs to Remember: Broccoli - D.R.A.M
Alright so I got some nice internet social media banter that is just gold. Haven't had discussions like these in a while.
First off, Dance. Yep, started it off with some dancing, and also a side of election talk, as expected. There was so much irony today that I just, it gets annoying after a while, and so, I try to avoid and ignore it. But yeah, just practicing more of the dance, etc. Math, same thing as the past few days, just work and notes.
Then it was Digital Art and I just used that time to work on Chinese work. I figured, hey, if I use this time to work on future Chinese work, then I won't have to worry about it so much. Because currently, that's my lowest grade right now, with a B- and 80%, on the verge of a C+, all thanks to those fucking stupid recaps. Fortunately, the teacher's gonna only have us do them once a week starting next week, so, thank based god for that.
English, yeah there was definitely a bit of election talk, but not much at all, so that was good. We finished the last couple minutes of "The Leper of St. Giles" aaand, took notes. For lunch, I spent it with the cast today and as expected, election talk. Just gotta hold it in, listen to some banter, keep my mouth closed. Gov, now that was, well yeah, what you'd expect, heh. The teacher was rational on the election results, explaining how people had no other choice, that people in the rural areas were gonna get screwed either ways and so Trump would be the last bit of hope that they'd have of getting better jobs and shit.
Also we did a bit of discussion, etc, etc, etc. Finally Chinese, where we read, a lot. That was it. Now onto the discussion stuff. I saw on Facebook my buddy Ic, he posted a link to the Canadian immigration site with a joke status saying "hey lets all move to canad..." He's usually always joking around, all-around adventurous dude, chill, enthusiastic dude. Well, this one girl whom we had Chinese class with once bashed on him for supporting Trump. As quoted from her comment, "Ic stfu you were the one that supported trump youre the same kid that thought blackface was so funny and was joking about it your the kid that said that more whites were killed during the all black lives matter movement you supported racism so dont even start"
This is just one of the countless examples of irony and ignorance that was exemplified today by people at school. First of all, Ic is just a junior, he's old enough to vote yet, and although he does support Trump, he doesn't go around with a big-ass sign stating "Vote for Trump," or anything like that, and yet, she's acting as if he was the sole reason Trump got elected, heh. Second of all, dark humor. "Blackface," haha. Dark humor's been around for ages, it's still going on and there are even more racist jokes in dark humor than just "blackface." So what if he jokes about "blackface"? Very minute thing, and I know Ic, people like him and me make joke about stereotypes to laugh about it, to make fun of the absurdity of it all. Also, more whites killed in the black lives matter movement? I don't know about that fact, but if it is true, then, alright, it's true. He just stated something, if he's wrong, he's wrong. If he's right, he's right. That's it, not sure how that can be used to empower any part of her argument.
Thirdly, supporting racism. Supporting Donald Trump doesn't necessarily mean he's supporting racism. Most likely he supported Trump because of gun laws and shit and Ic is into military stuff and airsoft and war history. If you support a candidate, it doesn't mean you're supporting EVERYTHING that they do. "I support Trump because of his views on gun laws." Alright fair enough. Ic didn't directly state "I support Trump because he's a racist" or shit like that. Finally, she's calling him a kid, which is ironic because they're both in the same fucking grade and actually, I think he's older than her.
One thing I didn't like was how Ic replied with like "lol" and a counter-argument meme. Should've just acknowledged it, said something like "Okay," moved on, and ignored it. Doing something "kiddish" like what he did in response to that really hurts his stance on having his views be questioned. Anyways, that was a nice "rant" so to speak on some Facebook gold. I spent a good majority of today on Skype, Amazon, and surveys. Gonna finish up work and then head to bed. It's 11:09 PM, see ya.
