Week 34
Songs to Remember: Growl (Mellow Remix) - EXO
During first period, my teacher was passing out this small stack of paper. I was wondering what it was and he handed one to me. The first words I saw were "Congratulations Drew!" And I was like, "Oh no."
It was paper from the Engineering academy here at my school, saying that I was accepted. Now, there are about 3 academies at my school. They're basically these 3-year-long programs which don't really teach, but give you "hands-on" experiences in like, engineering or computer design or something. There are 3 academies, Engineering or "E-Tech" for short, Digital Business, and Travel & Tourism. They take up 1 elective slot for 3 years. In that one class, there are like 4 teachers.
Around 3 weeks ago (maybe 4), I was supposed to go to the school library and do an interview there (one interview for each academy we were "interested in"). I was kinda interested (emphasis on kinda) in both digital business and engineering so I did both the interviews. They asked me "On a scale of 1 to 5, how much to do you want to join?" I strictly said 3. I said 3! And here I am, receiving a paper of acceptance to the academy.
I didn't really think they would let me in, but judging from how they let this one kid who has like an D in my Geometry class in, I was kinda guaranteed in. I went to one of the academy classrooms before when my first period teacher (he's actually one of the teachers for the Engineering academy) took us to go vote for this mini-class competition the academy kids were having. There was literally NO GIRLS IN SIGHT.
Well, there goes my plan of how my high school classes are going to be. And if I'm taking this class, which takes up one big elective slot for the rest of my high school life, I better be getting some style points for my college entrance thingy. UC Berkley would look at my profile and be like "Uh huh, he did do this Engineering academy for 3 years ... but it doesn't really count towards college, so, NO ACCEPTANCE!"
School is okay, I don't really like school for the classes, but for the atmosphere and experience. You only go to high school for 4 years so might as well do as much stuff a high school-er can as possible. But having a class with the same people and the same teachers for 3 years is not gonna help, especially when it's all a male-fest there.
Now onto today. After I received that paper of acceptance, I sighed for the rest of 1st period, and 2nd, and 3rd, and 4th. I sighed a lot today. In 6th period, we didn't do much, just worked on this worksheet on the famous people of Latin America (When can we learn about Asia already?). Tn doesn't even walk my way anymore, She exits out the door, going left while I stay right. It's just like The Fray's song "How to Save a Life". As she goes left and you stay right ...
My day did brighten up a little bit. My 8th grade crush (who is now a friend I guess) said Hi to me. Not many times would I imagine someone noticing my existence. I love Hello's. I love Hi's. I like Hey's. I like Sup's. Those kind of things wake me up every once and a while.
So I hope this was long enough to make up for me not remembering to write a post for Friday and Sunday. Tomorrow there will be 4 people presenting for my Geography class so that will be something to talk about. One of the presenters is this girl I kinda like (Js), though given up on recently. She wearing a skirt today and I was like "Is she wearing a skirt? Is she wearing a skirt? She's wearing a skirt."
Sorry for being so creepy. I'll end the post now. See you tomorrow.
