Week: 51
Songs to Remember: Ballroom Blitz - Sweet, Purple Lamborghini - Skrillex & Rick Ross
Things started off shaky at first, but once I saw the clear path towards the start of the new series, I knew, this is where it starts to get good, where it gets going.
It all started at 2:45 PM where got the mall. Met up with DrewN and his brother at GameStop, got our tickets, and got in. I was worried at first that there would be a huge line or that tickets might be sold out, etc. Not sure about the hardcore movie fanatics here so, I was kinda iffy. But, DrewN reassured me by explaining how it was 3D, and it was at 3:00 PM, in the afternoon, on a Friday.
To my surprise, yeah, the theater room was pretty empty. It started filling up around the start time but you get what I mean. And so, here is my review of a very hyped-up movie. Spoilers in this paragraph, and the next. Let's get to it. First off: I was hyped, I was ready to be prove the reviewers wrong. I mean, 29% on RottenTomatoes? Even worse than the Ghostbusters reboot? I'ma have to agree, to some extent. Reviewers rated it poorly due to the plot and choppiness of the movie, which I agree. I thought the squad was going to be fighting terrorists or, other mob people, or just, people who were on their caliber. Nope, they fought somebody who was going to be a member of the squad, Enchantress, essentially a god, and her brother, mega-god. How were the squad able to defeat him and her, considering they were like, you know, humans (for the most part) and fight with like, regular weapons? With another god. If it ain't for El Diablo going full like, god mode, it wouldn't have been possible. Just, it all doesn't make sense, with a bit too much ex machina stuff happening.
Secondly: the squad itself. I felt some didn't really contribute much besides one-liners or for comic relief, but that's okay because, it's their character, their personality. But Slipknot? Was included in the cast, some people were hyped up for him, and, dies within the first 30 minutes or so. Worst of all, the Joker. I swear, there's probably an hour of deleted scenes, because the Joker appeared for only about 25 minutes, maybe even less than that. He ain't in the squad, sure, okay. But then he's just, there. Appears in the beginning, comes in flashbacks with Harley, appears at the end. Very disappointing. Same goes for Katana, sort of. She's just, put into the squad. Very minimal back story (same goes for every character, besides Headshot and Harley), you don't feel much for them. With all that, it just felt like, several visions of the movie, spliced into one. I wouldn't rate it a 29%, od say, a 40%. Disappointing in some aspects, if there was just a bit more time to flesh out the characters, put some more details to them, and maybe, flip things around with the Joker and Enchantress, hey, a solid 7/10.
And now for some cameos, and I'm not just talking about Batman in the Suicide Squad. After the movie, DrewN, his brother, and I walked around the mall for a bit, waiting to be picked up, when uh, I stumbled upon an old buddy if mine. Yep, it was Jp, what a coincidence that I'd meet him again, heh. Oh boy, I've seen what he's been up to (mostly on Snapchat and Instagram) but haven't actually met up with him in quite a while. He's still chilling, getting by, going great actually. Although I don't participate in the stuff he does (vape, rave, work a job, go out at night), I'd still hang out with him for some of those experiences, just, sometimes. And it's always good to be connected to many kinds of people. You got their back, they got yours.
Anyways, after the movies, mall, went to a buffet after quite a while, and, now it's 10:07 PM. I gotta get to the library at 10:00 AM tomorrow for that "Monster" practice (gonna practice tonight too), and, that'll be the it for today. Alrighty, see ya.
