Week: 6
Songs to Remember: What Can I Do - Seungri
I've never really fallen asleep in any of my classes. Until this school-year that is. I have been up all night doing homework and that's probably what's causing me to close my eyes during a few of my classes. Yesterday I actually fell asleep in the car. Well, only for like half a second 'cause like, my head's going down and that woke me up. You get what I'm saying.
And the past few days, I got a lot of work so, I didn't really post anything much. But now I'm taking the time to post this as an update, and then get on to work. So, let's get on with it. World History, pretty boring. Yesterday we watched Dr. Seuss's "Yertle the Turtle". Or was it today? You see, I'm so tired in the morning I can't even remember anymore.
We watched it 'cause it had to do with like a monarchy and stuff and yeah. We're currently learning about early European governments like King Louis XIV's era and all that, leading up to the French revolution. And umm, yeah. As long as we don't do any projects for a while (group projects that is), then I'll be okay with it. So next class, English. Yesterday the teacher was pissed off 'cause barely anybody did the homework, which was to look up the academy of France and Cardinal Richelieu (the words "Cardinal Richelieu" reminds me of plague doctors and their masks. I don't know why).
I guess that barely anyone did the homework 'cause they all that everyone else was gonna do it and they'd do all the talking for the discussion on it. In my defense, I did look em' up. I thought we just had to know the general stuff of the academy of France and the cardinal, but not like how the cardinal grew up and stuff. So the teacher was pissed, ranted for a little bit, everyone was silent, and we continued reading our book "Cyrano de Bergerac". It's a play by the way, and in the first few pages, a lot s***'s happening.
So uh, the girl who sits next to me in Chemistry, I've been trying to converse with her since she's been sitting next to me for like, 3 weeks, and we haven't really talked much, except for those times like "Can I see what you have for last night's homework?" and stuff like that. Mr. Sales changes seats every 3 weeks and of course, I choose now to start talking. We'll call her Yn for now.
Yesterday we had to bring in cans of soda (empty by the way) to class so we can use them in this vapor-pressure experiment. You know, like the thing where you heat up a soda can with a bit of water in it, pressure and heat builds up, the dunk it upside down in a bowl of ice-water and the can just collapses on itself. So we were in class yesterday with our cans, we're sitting at our desks, and I see some other people drinking their cans of soda, along with empty ones. I, wanting to be safe, brought in an un-opened 7up can, thinking "Oh, maybe we need it with the soda in it still". Nope.
We needed an empty can so I had to chug it all down. And boy, did I have to use the restroom in 4th period. We didn't do the vapor-pressure experiment yesterday since we didn't have enough time so we did it today. Oh and uh, instead of walking out the classroom with Yue, I walked out with Yn instead and I was like "So, what class do you have next?" and she's like "AP Digital Art" or something like that, I don't remember the exact name, but I knew it was an AP art something.
And I was like "Oh, is it a hard class?" and she's like "Yeah, pretty hard". She wasn't born in America by the way, she was from Vietnam and so she has this slight accent, just like Yue. And so she asks me "What class do you have next?" and I'm like "P.E. I'm doing Volleyball currently" and she's like "Oh, I don't really like P.E" and I'm like "Yeah, me neither" And she's like "Have you done badminton? I really like badminton" and I'm like "Yeah, I did it last year. I'm hoping to do it after Volleyball".
And then she asks me "Are you a sophomore?" and I'm like "Yeah" and then I ask "What about you?" and she's like "I'm a junior". And I was just like "*sigh* How many times are you going to do this to me life? Why?" I swear if the next time I converse with a female classmate and she's a high grade than me, I will just, just, sigh. A really big sigh.
Anyways, we did the vapor-pressure experiment lab thing today. We filled up each can with 45 milliliters of water, then heated em' on a hot-plate. After they were steaming, I submerged my fingers in cold water for about a minute, then quickly grabbed a can and dunked it upside down into the ice-cold water and it was like "Sploosh", and like, the can crushed down and yeah. It was pretty cool, Yue and her friends decided to record and take some pictures of the whole thing. Even I took pictures and I'm like "Hey, I should be doing this more often".
And so yesterday we did the rally test for Vollleyball. My partner and I rallied for like 10 minutes straight, I was tired and sweating like a mother******, and our highest rally was actually 18. But that was just practice, and when we actually did the test (we got 2 tries), we rallied only 9 times (required number was 10), and so we ultimately failed. It's a pass or fail so, yeah. I blame P.E.
Today we got our binders back in Algebra II/ Trig. I was hoping for a good score, I was like "Okay, okay, no worries, let's see what ya got Drew". I opened up my binder and bam, it's like a 40 or a 50. I can't really tell 'cause she scribbled it out, but kept it there as the only score, so I'm guessing a 50? She wrote "ok" so I guess I was okay. Anyways, the lesson today was on polynomials and monomials and all that stuff. I actually understand it and finished a lot of questions. I'm guessing word problems ain't my thing, but a given equation? Yeah, I'm fine with it. Just straight up equations to solve and I'll be good.
And for Chinese class, we just did the usual, just, Chinese. Our homework today was to record ourselves saying the vocabulary and sentences and stuff in Chinese. El and I have our usual walk-home route together (do I use the word "together"?). And uh, on this Saturday, she's planning to go see "The Maze Runner" and she made the event on Facenovel and so far, only like me and her are going. No one else seems to really be going. Soooo, I guess it'll just be the two of us? Inb4 a whole mob comes storming in the theaters.
So, I think that's all I wanted to say for right now. Progress reports are coming next week, I got English work due next week, as well as I gotta study for the math test tomorrow, as well as I have to stay after school to do a 100-question math quiz (non-graded) for like, I don't know, a school-wide research or whatever. If I get at least 30 right, I get 5 extra-credit points for my test. I'm not sure whether I should scared because of how difficult it might be since we only have to get 30 correct, or the fact that it might be a free-response. Well, at least it's not graded.
Sooo, I guess I'll end it here then. I always think of so much stuff I want to say, but when I start writing the post, suddenly most of it all slips my mind. Also, this calendar app I'm using, called "Jorte", is seriously making organizing work a lot easier. Helps remind me by making the notifications seem like Facenovel notifications and I'm reluctant to see em', only to find out that they're reminders I set up for myself.
Well, I gotta go study my sanity out, so I'll see you tomorrow. I'll be praying that I get at least a B on the test. Ohhhhhh please based math god.
Yeah here's a picture of the crushed cans after the experiment.
