Songs to Remember: Come a Little Closer - Cage the Elephant

It's really a different feeling when you're tutoring kids (an even one who is going into 9th grade) while you're surrounded by people you know.

I woke up at 10:00 AM today. I tried to get some games in before I leave at 1:00 PM to go tutor at the library. It opens at 1:00 PM, so people can help setup the tables and chairs. I've done that, and I've also stayed after 15 minutes to help clean up. Yeah, I worked up a lot of sweat when I did any of the preparing or cleaning. So, I decided to go a bit late now.

My buddy wasn't there, and our table already had people sitting at it, so I sat at a different table, which was located just one table over, to the middle front of the whole auditorium (in which I sorta regret). My buddy finally showed up, and the place was pretty packed. The first session was just my buddy and I tutoring his cousin. We established a format which includes him tutoring his cousin for the 1st session, then I tutor his cousin for the 2nd session. That way, we don't actually fully exhaust ourselves.

Believe it or not, I yawned, a lot, towards the end. Sitting in the same spot for 4 hours is more exhausting than you think. Anyways, the people running the whole tutoring thing, had a dude (who was from Stanford/Harvard, don't really remember) spoke about STEM and all that, and how this whole tutoring is amazing and that it should be implemented all across the country. The mayor was also here to speak, about, pretty much the same thing.

Towards the end of the 2nd session, because my buddy and I were sitting and tutoring at the very front table, a dude who was assisting in the hosting of the whole event asked us if we both had a tutee each. Well, of course not. I just so barely passed Algebra II/Trig with a B, and it just so happens that the dude asked one of us to tutor a dude coming into 9th grade. I'm like "Oh, dear".

Like, I'm pretty sure the dude knew more than me. After confirming that I would be tutoring the dude, he leaves with his mom to go, do something, or something. Not sure. I was like "Hmmm, alright, that's aight with me". About 5 minutes later, he comes back and well, I gotta tutor him. So, after I asked him what math class he would be going into (Algebra II I guess), and the fact that there were no Algebra II or Trigonometry textbooks at all there, I jumped into a bit of what I remember from Algebra II/Trig.

Polynomials, the basic trigonometric functions, good thing I had my phone to help me out. After a bit of that, it was the end of session 1, and well, break time. He goes off again, not, really, sure where he went, but I was still fine with that. And then this whole, group convo happens, my buddies sitting at the table next to my buddy and I, Ek comes and sits at our table, I meet up with my old tutoring buddy Ad (I think that was the name I used for him), my brain was just kinda at a stand-still, just for a moment, due to the realization of "Wait, is this happening right now".

It wasn't bad, it was good. And so, break time was over, we got back to work, still no sign of that 9th grader dude, I tutored my buddy's cousin, Ek was still there, random, lots of random shenanigans, I think partly due to the fact that people start to lose a bit of their sanity after being there for 4 hours straight. Cards (in which I actually recognize the brand, and was appalled by the sheer wear on the deck itself), card games, pens, fake being shocked by a pen, my buddy, he got Starbucks halfway through, my other buddy, gossip, kids, me, people, just, all around f***ing swell time.

No Ln though, but maybe probably next time. Oh yeah, the atmosphere really changes when it transitions from 1st to 2nd session. You can visually see it, and feel it. Kinda weird. Oh and uh, many texts and Snapchats along the way as well. I had to multi-task throughout the whole thing, I think I did well. Also Dn invited me to go hangout at this, gamer lounge in downtown. She mentioned how it has like, consoles you play, lots of screens, pc's, food, drinks, and a bar. I was like "Waiiit. You mentioned drinks".

I look it up on YouTube, see how the place is pretty, tacky, and uh, I was kinda tired and lazy. So I did the most boot-f**ing-leg bail I have ever done and Snapchatted her, "Oh noes, I gotta leave for LA. Like right now". Not sure if she took it literal or not. We still Snapchatted, with my background still being my normal background. Also, she's clearly doing something with her Snapchats. It's definitely, some really f***ing bootleg subliminal messaging alright. You'll see what I mean in an example picture.

So anyways, I'll catch ya later. Maybe some hype s*** happened tomorrow or something. I don't know. See you tomorrow.

Tell me why the placement of the city initials are far apart.
